List of Available Programs
There are seven undergraduate programmes offered in the Faculty of Agriculture:
  1. BSc. Agriculture, with five options: Animal Science, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension and Education, Crop Science and Soil Science.
  2. B.Sc. Agricultural Engineering
  3. B.Sc. Food Science and Technology
  4. B.Sc Land Use and Management
  5. Bachelor of Agricultural and Rural Innovations
  6. B.Sc. Agribusiness Management
  7. B.Sc. Horticulture
Faculty Guidelines for the Semester/Credit Unit System
The Faculty is implementing the Makerere University Semester System as approved by Senate at its Special Meeting of 3rd and 4th October, 1996, and as amended at the: Special Meeting of the Senate on 5th May, 1999, and 116th Meeting of Senate held on 20th and 21st November, 2002.

Syllabus
For each year of study, there shall be a course content for each course. The detailed course contents are contained in the Appendix to these Regulations.

Examination Papers
Examinations shall be held at the end of each Semester or Recess Term and the courses outlined above constitute University Examination.

Board of Examiners

  1. There shall be a Board of Examiners, which shall be composed of Internal Examiners appointed by Senate on recommendations of the Board of the Faculty of Agriculture.
  2. The Board of Examiners shall receive, consider and recommend to the Faculty Board, the final examination results of each candidate.
  3. The Board of Examiners shall be chaired by the Dean of the Faculty, and decisions taken by the Board of Examiners shall be subject to ratification and approval by the Faculty of Agriculture Board.
  4. The Faculty Board shall recommend the results of the Examinations in each case to Senate for approval.
Assessment of Examinations

Continuous Assessment
Continuous Assessment consists of Practical work, Assignments, and Continuous Assessment tests. The assessment shall be conducted throughout the duration of the course and shall consist of two parts.
(a)        Practical work         20%
(b)        Assignments/Tests 20%

For courses without practical work, the contribution towards the continuous assessment shall be based on Assignments/Tests and shall carry 40%.

For courses such as Management Case Study, Field Attachment and Internship assessment shall be by Reports.

Course Assessment
Each Paper shall be assessed on the basis of 100 total marks apportioned as follows:
(a)        Written Examination       60%
(b)        Continuous Assessment 40%

Calculation of Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)

The CGPA shall be calculated as follows:

            GPi is the grade point score of a particular course i
            CUi is the number of Credit Units of Course i
            n is the total number of courses so far done
            i is a the course count

Dean's List
A student who maintains a CGPA of 4.0 and above without probation in any Semester shall qualify for the Dean’s List. This list is meant to motivate and recognize students with outstanding performance.
